FAST FOR PEACE
Local group calls for fasting to "Bring Troops home FAST"
A diverse group of Patriots for Peace and Students of Nonviolence in Tulsa have committed themselves (to varying degrees) to support CODEPINK's call for Troops Home Now with their Troops Home FAST. Some members have been fasting off and on since July 4th. Others mindfully intending to fast by spiritually connecting to and supporting those from all over the country who are fasting until U.S. troops are out of Iraq and back home, where they belong.
Aug. 6th marks the 61st anniversary of the shame on this nation: the U.S. atomic bombing of Hiroshima, followed by the bombing of Nagasaki. This seems to be an appropriate day to FAST in solidarity with Codepink.
Remaining silent in quiet vigils for peace continue, yet we seek to manifest into the physical that which our group has known all along: violence directed outward is also violence directed inward. We FAST for an end to the violence. We FAST for sustainable choices. First and foremost the Tulsa Engage Circle FASTS to echo the call for Troops Home FAST!
Any and all are welcome to join the FAST for as long as you're able.
We are asking that pastors and other religious leaders join us.
We are asking that all elected officials join us.
Notes of support can be directed to the Codepink Blog where we'll record the names of those who wish to have their names listed.
Peace Through Justice.
Engage Circle of Tulsa
